18. Via Ferrata Ettore Bovero – Col Rosà (2,166 m)

Arrival and starting point

To Dobbiaco, further on the left to Fiames, shortly before Cortina. Ca. 1 km after the Albergo Fiames you arrive at Camping Olympia (big sign). Limited parking possibilities at the entrance to the Camping ground.

Difficulties and general information

Diversified, partly very steep and exposed ascend through the cliffs. Often a slim cable rope with long distances between the hooks, iron frames in the last part make the ascent across steep stairs easier. The free climbing parts at the begin of the access and some parts of the ferrata require foothold.

Access

The ferrata is signposted at the camping ground. Across the highway to the first, turn left (signs) and further on the path number 408 to the Passo Posporcora (sign ferrata). Easy climbing part to the access of the ferrata.

Route-Information

A long but comfortable access. From the Passo Posporcora (1.711m) starts the steep and difficult part. Also, the descent is long and steep, especially on the peak plateau you should follow the stone figures and the red marks (always keep northwards - do not follow the traces in western direction!). The ferrata per se is short, but very beautiful.

Characteristic and technical Details

A short Via Ferrata, but absolutely not to underestimate. Climbing experience is advantageous. Mostly saved with steel ropes, which are sufficient since there are excellent footsteps and holders. Partly very exposed path directly at the ridge. Long access and descent.

Descent

Be careful at the peak plateau. It’s easy to take the wrong path (do not follow the traces westward). The descent is red marked (number 447) and proceeds from the peak in northern direction (watch the stony figures).
